Resettable Multifuse® Devices

Biurns Resettable Multifuse® devices shield a wide range of applications against overcurrent conditions. A variety of speed, voltage, and current limits are available.

EV Applications

Bourns provides a broad range of reliable products ideal for electric vehicle (EV) applications. The portfolio features hybrid GMOV components with engineered MOV-GDT pairings, ChipGuard® MLC automotive ESD protectors with low capacitance and a fast response time, BMS signal transformers with AEC-Q200 compliance, and SMF4L-Q transient voltage suppressor diodes that are AEC-Q101 compliant. Additional Bourns components for EV applications include MF-USMF and MF-NSMF Multifuse® PTC resettable fuses with AEC-Q200 compliance as well as a wide selection of inductors and resistors. Bourns automotive products are reliable, effective, cost-effective, and manufactured in accordance with the IATF 16949:2016 standard.

Circuit Protection Devices

Bourns manufactures and supplies a wide range of circuit protection technologies, including fuses, PTC thermistors, varistors, GDTs, resettable thermal cut-offs, surge protection devices, hybrid protectors, discrete semiconductor solutions, and more. Reliable surge protection is a critical design consideration to help ensure operational reliability of consumer electronics, industrial/communication equipment, automotive, battery charging, energy storage infrastructure, and renewable energy harvesting ecosystems.

MF-NSMF Multifuse® PPTC Resettable Fuses

Bourns MF-NSMF Multifuse® Polymeric Positive Temperature Coefficient (PPTC) Resettable Fuses protect against overcurrent events with a fast time-to-trip (TTT) as low as 0.05s. These modules come in a standard 1206 footprint that has a symmetrical design and low profile (0.7 mm to 1.6 mm). The fuses feature Bourns' freeXpansion™ design, which incorporates higher hold currents, elevated voltages, enhanced resistance stability, and more compact footprints. The MF-NSMF series operates in a -40°C to +85°C temperature range and has a maximum voltage range of 6V to 60V. Typical applications include USB and HDMI port protection, battery packs, tablet and laptop PCs, server and data center interfaces, LCD / LED HDTVs, and hard disk drives.

Multifuse® PTC Resettable Fuses

Bourns Multifuse® PTC Resettable Fuses are available in polymer or ceramic with surface-mount, through-hole, or strap-mount configurations. The materials used in these fuses allow them to reset after a fault condition has been removed, and the increase in resistance changes exponentially rather than in a linear manner. Resettable overcurrent protection offers reliability and a longer part life. Bourns Multifuse PTCs provide resettable overcurrent protection, extra-low resistance, and are RoHS compliant. These fuses are ideal circuit protection for a variety of industrial and consumer applications, including computer, battery, automotive, and telecommunications.
